#22733 RE: boston745 #22732

Just looked at Zimmers AMC 510k again. Its meant for specific situations dealing with patients with failed hip implants, bone softening, & other such maladies. It articulates against a constrained liner restricting motion to a degree, a necessary trade off for these patients. It wouldn't even compete against a Si3N4 hip implant.

"AMC suffer phase stability issues"

exactly. There's a likelyhood of ceramics shattering, Which gives Silicon Nitride a bum wrap in my opinion since ceramics are avoided across the board since "ceramics" must mean biolox.

Titanium Nitride/niobium nitride or DLC diamond like coating. Just put me onto this boston. seems to solve the Chrome cobalt particulate problem in studies using a peek liner. I question what happens when the peak liner is removed. Your body is going to respond to a pile of plastic crap.

Seems like these guys are set up down the road from Warsaw Indiana pushing forward alot faster than SINT on production run coatings.

Our technologies are utilized on millions of devices every year, allowing us to contribute to improvements in the quality of life of patients world-wide

Cant say the same for SINT. Studies are released suggesting the superiority of SiNi but does that allow them to contribute to improvements in the quality of life of patients worldwide? I man at least the PVD equipment is sitting there down the street this way.

We where discussing the logistics issues on PVD equipment a bit back here. You may be on to something.
