Just FYI it takes many months and, in some cases, years to get a guideline updated. For example JNC8 (hypertension guideline) took over 10 years. I've worked on 5-6 different guidelines over the last 20 years and I think the fastest one got done was like 8 months, and that was for Zika virus!

Given that the REDUCE IT information just came out last year, these guidelines were most likely already in press or very close to it--too late to pull and update, especially since a frontline recommendation for Vascepa would require a lot of discussion among the members of the guideline committee.

Just the fact that they included a paragraph on REDUCE IT essentially at the last minute is a good harbinger for the future though. I'd expect to be in the next update of the ADA guidelines unless they release a special supplementary recommendation, which I do not view as likely.
