I've used coinbase for years and have had no issues. Nor have I heard of anyone on coinbase getting their accounts closed.

There are a number of exchanges out there and some have some advantages based on what coins your are trying to purchase or what country you are in.

Coinbase is the largest exchange in the US and has full insurance protection against the exchange itself from being hacked.
