People are leaving NY state daily due to the taxes so I agree, forget NY. Upstate is beautiful but it's all controlled by the folks on the island which seem to view the world in a different way than those Upstate. East TN is beautiful country, mild winters, not too hot and no state income taxes. Lots of transplants there now trying to escape certain states.
