If Mrs Powers did use the term "hostile takeover" and was accurate in its use, I rather doubt that it was Woodford she was referring to. Woodford has form in management shake-ups - replacing what he sees as badly performing managers by better ones to the benefit of the company and all its shareholders. This was shown quite clearly in a recent failed attempt to oust the management of Stobart which ended up in court with Woodford sitting on the sidelines with an "Honest, Guv, it wasn't me" look on his face after admitting that he wrote to the Chairman of Stobart suggesting that he should resign.
I would think that if it was Woodford's activities to which Mrs Powers was referring as a "hostile takeover", it was more likely to have been Woodford trying to oust the current NWBO management (ie her and Mr Goodman et al) and replace them with more experienced individuals, but still maintaining NWBO as a standalone entity.
If you really believe that a company is one day in the very near future going to have an absolute bonanza, why go diluting your own share of that bonanza by involving big pharma in a takeover rather than just changing management to one more experienced in running a small biotec?
