Yes, to a certain extent, but IMO, they should have communicated to shareholders in a PR or company e-mail, etc. what the heck was going on with the resignation of the CEO. To leave us high and dry with no CEO, or explanation as to what had occurred, was unacceptable. So then, when shareholders called to find out what was going on with the company in which they have their monies invested, there should have at least been someone there to answer some of the questions.
I know they do not want to engage in a he-said, she-said situation, but they could have at least informed us that there was an offer brought to the table about which the BOD and CEO disagreed upon, enough that the CEO felt thwarted and decided he could no longer be a productive leader after they had come to such opposing views regarding the direction the company should take. They could have informed us that it invloved a consideration of selling off some of the assets and that they could give no more information since it was still in negotiations. And they could have closed with the summary that it was a major difference in philosophies of how to move the business forward, just two opposing philosophies about what the best next step would be for the shareholders and for the viability and growth of the company in general.
This would have informed us as to the gist of the disagreement, and shareholders might have then not been subject to such a drastic sell-off due to much worse uncertainties about what was happening within the company.
I agree the company needs to focus on generating sales and customer relations first, but not to the exclusion of the investor sentiments. They also need to stay mindful of what the shareholders are willing to support and gage what needs to be done to keep investors willing to put money up to back funding of the growth to allow said sales. They both work hand in hand, and both should be attented to by the company, or they may just get a bunch of excited customers interested in buying an innovative product, but have nothing to allow them to be able to get the supplies, brainpower and manpower to develop and build said products.
You need both.
