On CNBC-TV this morning, there was extensive discussion of AMZN's decision to not provide a new HQ in suburban NYC. Various political leaders in NY, NJ, Mass. were interviewed. When NY states' Gianaris[the ultimate Luddite, IMO] was interviewed by Sorkin and Kernan, the headlines of newspapers appeared: "AMAZON MESSAGE TO NY--DROP DEAD"[NY Daily News] or "THE AMAZON KILLERS" with photos of Gianaris, the newly elected NY Senator, a California member(Senator?) of Congress. The NJ governor who was interviewed appeared to be left somewhat uncomfortable after his staunch defense of NJ taxation policies. NY's governor Cuomo, the NYC mayor and the NY member of Congress[representing Long Island] voiced more support than opposition to what Amazon felt it had to do in light of the few local politician's views.

Becky Quick's L.A. interview of Charlie Munger[Buffet's partner at Berkshire] about the California situation may be left for another day.

Suffice to say, JT must feel comfortable relocating Amarin's HQ to another NJ facility. Perhaps its highly paid executives and employees are not as severely affected by NJ's property tax, personal income tax, estate tax as the far more wealthy business owners in CA, Mass, NJ or NYC who are relocating themselves to FLA or Texas. Then too, they may have second homes elsewhere in more favorable states, spending 6 months + a day to gain residence.
