I have been fighting to be heard since the fall of 1996 when I learned I had contracted a fungal infection in February of that year. Still, the doctors wouldn't listen and wouldn't treat.

Yes, my weight ballooned to 220, but that was a side effect of medical treatments I recieved and the failure of doctors to treat what was really wrong.
Generic "blame the victim" doesn't go over well with me.

Is that because of the current attitude of expecting the big-mommy-government to take care of us and make it all better – it seems that the individual patient’s control/say in their own health has been lost in many cases.
