I'm not sure you're reading that correctly - spray coating a statin on the outside of a V cap could have some major problems:
1. Even though V caps are large, they're not terribly difficult to swallow because the outside of the cap is sorta slippery - if the statin spray changes the texture that would be a problem some people with small or narrow throats.
2. The coating would have to be extremely strong and durable to survive the jostling of caps during manufacturing, bottling, and transportation - just friction alone could rub off parts of the coating, meaning you wouldn't get the same dose of statin with each pill - you might end up with a bunch of statin dust in the bottom of the bottle.
3. Coming up with a manufacturing process to spray the coating on the pills evenly and consistently w/o damage the caps could present a problem.
Far easier to put the statin with EPA inside the cap.
