Maybe so...

Tachikawa....When my family (my brother, step mother and half sister) moved to Japan after the Japanese surrender we lived in a shogun palace outside of Hokodate on the island of Hokkaido...This was before the military installations were complete in Sapporo....

My father (a Lt. Colonel in the 11th Airborne) was the regional military commander on MacArthur's staff. He had a Japanese friend who I remember because he always brought my brother and I gifts...To begin with were rubber balls (much prized) and later skis and later still bicycles...His name was Mr Tachikawa....

I wonder if the medical facility there was named for him?
