gg4.....Montgomery, the British general, was late in closing the gap by sending his forces from Caen, simply because he was overcautious, and would not launch an attack unless he was ready with superior forces...because of his lateness, many german forces slipped through the gap, and crossed the Rhine River into Germany....a friend of mine went to Failaise in 1965...he heard stories about how the farmers were still picking bones from the trees, thats how brutal the bombardments were against the german....
