Big deal, as a result of speeding up production, quality went out the window. The deliveries of Model 3s are packed to the gills with defective vehicles and terrible fit and finish.

The Big Three tried selling cars like that in the '70s and the Japanese ate them alive because once you have a lemon, you never go back to that make again.

Worse than not selling enough vehicles s selling bad ones, because reputation is nigh impossible to repair once it's damaged. Especially in an upscale market like Tesla is trying to play in.

It also costs the company $$$ to fix the defects under warranty - that means more people, space, equipment to do the repairs - and more loaner cars.

The #1 worst thing an automaker can do is have quality issues. They are the most expensive and time-consuming to address and they cause permanent damage to the brand image.
