I think the above still includes some ambiguity.
Hopefully it means:
even though there are some good arguments to continue the trial longer & obtain more data, the company has decided to immediately move forward with the various stages of work needed to reach trial completion.

Hopefully it does not mean:
We believe that now could/might be a good time to move forward with the various stages of work needed to reach trial completion, even though there also good arguments to continue the trial a while longer. We believe that our conviction to make a firm decision to indeed move forward with the various stages is getting stronger with time .... and we figure we should make a firm decision in the somewhat near future. Stay tuned.

Thanks Sentiment! The excerpt you provided is what I was thinking as unambiguous. I do acknowledge that ambiguity in this matter is in the eye of the beholder and everyone is entitled to their view.
