#203845 RE: iwasadiver #203836

Iwasadiver, Pete was in a car crash at least 5 years ago, damaged one side of his skull and brain, had to have his skull opened. He could do nothing but move his eyes at first, but finally was able to move the right side of his body and can hold his head up. He cannot talk, but communicates by typing on an iPad with his right hand. He has trouble swallowing, so is fed interveniously and does very little drinking because of the swallowing issue. He lives in a nursing home. He’s had several bouts of therapy at trauma centers which helped quite a bit. He can’t walk, partly because his toes have curled in, something I think should be able to be resolved, but they haven’t figured it out yet. He may have some short term memory loss, but long term memory is good.
I feel like his family doesn’t know of anything else to do for him and has gone to maintenance.
But he’s quite alert, has a great attitude and responds easily to conversations, sometimes with a sense of humor. I feel like working on his own recovery would be good for him. He’s only about 30, and is my son’s best friend.
So any way you can help is much appreciated. I know he’s a tough case, but he’s so far beat all the odds.
