Wow. That is fascinating and terrifying at the same time. CJD disease is also known as mad cow from the outbreak in Europe. That outbreak was from eating beef from cows that had the disease hence the name.

This article suggests that some forms of beta amyloid are prion like and are transmissible like mad cow disease.

I recall the the physiological changes in the brains of people with CJD are very different from those of AD subjects. So that suggests to me that if this finding holds up there are multiple prion diseases out there that need to be identified.
