Hitachi Europe agreed to establish the back office systems and develop a range of consumer devices incorporating Wave System's EMBASSY technology and metering chipset. The first 250,000 Hitachi devices featuring EMBASSY 1.0 will be available in Europe later this year.

VH

I've been assuming for awhile that Wave helped them build the connection to a TPM just like they did for Seagate. We'll know soon enough. It would certainly be a coup since at some point FDE capable drives will be standard and that would be a lot of plugin's plus a seat at everybody's table.

Thanks Vhouse...Wonder why we haven't seen new Seagate contract and when or why Hitachi hasn't announced their partner or software to manage use of the drive with TPM
Since it makes so much sense to supply their customers with a
complete easy to use system as Steven has referenced?
By the way the moon is almost Full.. Do we expect announcements prior to CC next week?

vh / hitachi drives

This line tells me more than I might have hoped for

"the fact that all the drives Hitachi ships from 2007 onwards will feature hardware-level encryption as a standard feature"

All drives implies all laptops that include Hitachi will have TPM's. This must be an overestimation as Seagate plans on selling both FDE and non-FDE drives in 2007. But if Seagate is good for 7 million FDE's and if 100% of Hitachi does similar numbers, the ETDM sales could add up to $200,000,000 alone in 2007. Not including seat upgrades.
