I think everyone is now reluctantly in concessus that Lebed was at the minimum indirectly associated with BOCX. I do think that Lebed did do the interview with Wittenberg so the connection may be a little more than indirect.
Lebed made the following statement.
"Just got off phone with BOCX's CFO.
Abbot Labs (NYSE: ABT) has been begging BOCX to get exclusive rights to their technology but BOCX only gave them semi-exclusive rights.
BOCX believes that through ABT they will only get a 35% share of cancer test market. BOCX would like to get 60-70% share. Therefore, BOCX is negotiating with several other billion dollar companies right now."
I don't know about the first statement. Wittenberg should be smart enough to not say that since if true, it would be definite inside information. I just think Lebed is a "loose cannon" . Per his emails, he was definitely hired by Onyx consulting and since he gave a preview of the PR piece sent out to see if it would get picked up on the wire services, the PR piece definitely came from Onyx Consulting also. Since Lebed had a 30 day contract, someone ended it today. His emails late yesterday spoke of exciting action today so getting fired was unexpected. The connection between the company and Onyx Consulting doesn't really matter since granting the interview is tacit approval of it's use by Lebed. The company knew what Lebed was doing. The media blitz is over and Lebed's services are no longer needed anyway. Lebed appeared to know a lot more about this company than he could have gotten from any quick research. He was coached by someone and given information to publish.
We do know this for a fact. This media blitz was supported and paid for by the company. For whatever reason, they felt it was useful. Someone intentionally did not let the stock run. With about 6 million shares purchased, it had legs to move. It did not and we are back now almost to where we started after the gastric cancer announcement. I personally have never witnessed anything like this before but I think we will find out why they did it within a few months.
