#15221 RE: Zilidium #15212

Ballot measure 1 was an initiative to put restrictions on permitting development near Salmon habitat according to everything I have read. It was voted down. How could that not be perceived as a positive regarding The pebble mine. Not to mention the Election of Dunleavy. Whose stance is to use more of Alaskas natural resources to help address budget shortfalls. Of all the candidates he was the only one with a rational approach to the mine. I am not an Alaskan so maybe I'm ignorant. But, it sounds like more Alaskans may be pro mine if done correctly.

I believe you are misunderstanding what BM1 was and was about good sir!

1. BM1 was ‘on the voting ballot’ for Alaskans

2. When I say the vote, I am not referring to Dunleavy, I am referring to the DIRECT vote that Alaskans made regarding BM1 – they chose to vote it down

a. Ie on the ballot they would choose who was governer AND choose for or against BM1 (amongst other ballot measures), perhaps this is where the confusion lies

3. BM1 was clearly an effort to prevent Pebble from being permitted, and all who are aware of the language in the proposed measure, were aware it effectively was a referendum on Pebble

a. BM1 was not only a measure to adjust the fish permitting law sir, I suggest you read here

The Stand for Salmon initiative was launched as a way to pre-empt the The Pebble Partnership from developing a large gold mine about 200 miles southwest of Anchorage.

4. I believe you are confusing the vote for Dunleavy and the no vote for BM1, there were 2 votes not one. Both votes went NAK’s way, both a Dunleavy win was important but so was the fact that Alaskans ALSO voted (in a separate and distinct vote on the ballot) to strike down an attempt to create a new law that would have restricted the ability of Pebble (and most of the extraction industry in AK) to operate

5. My comment was indeed correct, Alaskans voted in favor of Pebble by striking down Ballot Measure one with their votes and therefore are in support of the mine by a vast majority.
