In your example the R/S had nothing to do with the $2K loss, that fully occurred prior to the R/S.

With that logic you may want to buy as many shares as you can right now because if he does a RS when the SP goes up from here you will make a killing.
Sorry, but it just doesn't work that way. One way to help you understand is to see what would happen if the RS was to occur at the SP you paid. Nothing will change with your value, right? It only effects the OS. With a FS, you would end up with more shares in the float, and with a RS you would have fewer shares in the float. Knowing that, what effect does good news do to a larger float or a smaller float? What about bad news? This will show why a RS is not always a bad thing.
