Very good idea, hard to implement though.

Most likely they won't have a stock trading account. AND if they did, transferring the stock would require their account number; are they willing to give you that info?

You could request the physical stock be sent to you; you could then send or give the physical stock to your gift recipient of choice. They would then need to give it to their broker to have them keep it in their possession.

Very hard to implement for the average person.

Give an Acti-Patch instead.
