Its far less than 1%... and many of these tickers are constantly churning into new managements/companies, which eventually fail as well... This equates to a lot more companies than the actual amount of tickers...

...there are OTC tickers dropping to the pinks all the time... and some pinks get dropped to the Grey Market.

Noob investors often assume that many big companies started as penny stocks, but thats not true. The tickers they use as comparison have forward split many times, which lowers/adjusts their all time lows. This is why its important to always look at the market cap, not the price.

Very few penny stocks become something long term, this includes OTC... It is extremely rare for a pink stock to become something big. Its not easy and takes cash to build a company which isn't available to most pink stocks. This is why most just turn to pumping and dumping = easy money
