Aurora had a spin off company for the US and only Canadian citizens got shares of the company... all non residents aka if your American receive cash equivalents

This is true, but also a nice way to receive, versus getting the shares and having to deal will many holders of the new shares dumping in canada upon distribution.

I'll take the cash at full value all day long....

It's like getting paid a one time special dividend. ...

Not to mention your essentially getting approximately 10% back on all shares purchased before the closing.
