They've had to get more and more restrictive over the years, as Halloween in the Castro has grown into a big event, and folks come in with the intention of starting trouble. Last night the police imposed a shut-down time, sending everyone home at 10:30 PM. Last I heard some gangs came from the East Bay and there were some shootings. From what I'm hearing, it's no longer a gay event. Gays are staying home in droves.
I was on stage at the time doing Barber of Seville in three different costumes, so I had lots of fun.
