To justify using one of my 15 posts.....

The Z test that I mentioned is used when a large enough "n" obviates degrees of freedom issues. The T test recognizes that as the n goes down, the shape of the curve changes and degrees of freedom become and issue. If I remember properly (50 years ago) the tables are different.
