Saw quite a bit of Bell Labs in the mid '60s ---3 interviews with Chief Patent Counsel and General Counsel resulted in a job offer, but I decided to stay with Judiciary in Washington. That was a fortunate decision the way matters subsequently turned out for Bell--at that time, Bell was regarded as a premier research center in semiconductors/chips/laser technologies among other things. The French(Lucent) and now Nokia inherited what little remained of Bell via their respective M/A activity.
