If anyone is a chemist and I'm wrong please correct me but the Nmc is a typical lithium nickel cobalt dujour as elon might say. The LFP is cobalt free. They were over charging the batteries to see how they stood up to the abuse with 2 types of cathodes. As I understand most companies have different blends of the NMC and everyone would like to find a better route that is cobalt free. I think what they tested did not stand up to the abuse that well and they need to find a different blend for the battery.
