I listened to 2 Andy Whelan radio interviews and the one by Keith Nalepka VP of Sales.
My opinion is.....day & nite, very good & bad, yes & yecchh
Nalepka was articulate, encouraging and very positive easy listening. Next?
Why with a VP of the broadcast quality of Nalepka, Andy Whelan would ever say another word publicly is beyond my powers of comprehension. Someone had to say it. ... Is it ego, Founder's Syndrome, perhaps fear of being overshadowed or somehow diminished by Nalepka's excellence? God, I hope not! Andy should listen to them and have an honest chat with himself in the can, and after realizing the truth, then get out of his own way.
Stay in the office, tweak things here and there, manage, be a competent CEO, but never, ever sabotage or diminish the dignity of your own people by inserting yourself over them and then doing a sub-par mumbling interview, when your VP Sales can ace it with his eyes closed! Always stay the hell out of the way of good and loyal, hard-working people who can deliver the goods!
I would far rather be respected for recruiting great people who can deliver the goods, then standing down and coaching them, motivating them and letting them do what I recruited them for, than having people on the street and existing shareholders shake their heads in disbelief and say, "That's the BIEL CEO? Worst speaker ever, what's wrong with him?" and, "The guy mumbles and runs off-topic." And, "He can't pronounce opioids". Worst of all? What CEO recklessly risks demotivating his own people? The very ones he hired? I would hire Nalepka in a NY second.
Stay away from microphones Mr. Whelan. Get the first big-brand or retail deal done, and forget about the 50 million surgeries in the U.S. you spoke of. BIEL, at this moment, cannot sell even one ActiPatch legally to one of those surgical patients, so it's just mindless noise.
And, BTW, the FDA never endorses products it has approved or cleared and will be of no help whatsoever in selling product. Deals lead to sales, leaders lead to deals, nothing else! Make the first one, many will follow.
BIEL....imminent Tsunami....when the 1st deal is done!
