#15446 RE: 31twu #15445

I had to take my antique 3003 Crown Vic in for a recall this summer. While there, I looked at new pickups. One outside the door to the showroom had a list price of over $90,000. I asked one of the salesmen how many of them they expected to sell and he told me they had already sold four of them. I gotta say, I'm amazed. I'm still driving my Crown Vic, and we have an '88 Dodge 4 wheel drive 250 3/4 ton that we bought new in 1988 for $12,500 or thereabouts.

31twu, Toyota dealer told us last week, more people doing leases here, because they do not have sufficient credit to finance, nor any downpayment, nor decent enough incomes to buy... So they lease 3 or 4 years and why we are seeing hundreds and hundreds of 3-4 year old used vehicles everywhere on lots down here in NC right now... But leases in NC require say $4,000.00 +/- down upfront costs to even get into anyway up front (covers depreciation of said vehicle for dealers)...

As a business owner here in NC, unless I own I cannot depreciate anything related to a leased vehicle either. So I must buy one...
