He was below average! Many balls that he did not get to that he should have and many home town gimmes on should have been errors. You just cannot look at a 22-25 YO as a finished product. While players like Gleybar and Acuna may come up and rip it from their early 20's or teens, that is not the norm or even close to the average. Most players do not really start reaching their prime until 25-26.


Now, some teams decide to bring players up that are not quite ready for a variety of reasons. Your Mets did it with Rosario and my Sox with Anderson and Moncada. Moncada I truly believe was brought up last year to make sure he had time to be mentored by Abreu. I believe Hahn was not sure if an offer was going to come that he could not refuse for Abreu in the off season and thought it was best for Moncada long term to learn from one of the classiest players in the MLB and a fellow Cuban. Not sure why NYM brought up Rosario early, but there is still work to be done on him, as there is on Anderson and Moncada. You have to hope your major league coaches can continue their development. In the Sox case, I believe that is working and will continue to do so.
