I'd say having $1.2M invested in a single stock is crazy, period, especially for a risky biotech with a nearly life or death binary event coming up, but if you own the aviation company you started I assume you can afford to lose it all and not lose much sleep over it. Wifey may not be too happy though! For > 90% of the rest of us, that's more than we can likely accumulate in an IRA before retirement hits. I mean heck, AMRN and ARNA are by far the biggest two positions in my combined accounts - playing with numbers, even if AMRN hits $30 (10x) and ARNA hits $120 (3x) that's still only worth a fraction of what you already have invested in AMRN alone. Then again, if neither hits it big I still have lots of other stocks/funds to help fund my retirement - and the value of my taxable accounts will start to go up drastically in 3 yrs when my mortgage is paid off, will be funneling all of that money into (hopefully) tax deferred investments, but they won't be muni bonds - anyone who currently owns or had them has been getting killed over the last few years.
