You suggested that that would require Kraig Labs to get into the "dreaded goo business" and give credit to the "goo makers". I gave you an example of how Kraig Labs could make a composite using their DS fiber and resin, much like how they create fiberglass hulls for boats. No need to get into protein fermentation.

I agree. The army wants a custom fiber. Did they say DS was too flexible to be used in a bulletproof vest? I haven't seen them say that.
DS is relatively old tech. Could Kim have told the army "here is our great fiber, Dragon Silk, but we are working on some special formulations that could make it even stronger, maybe stronger than kevlar."? So the army says "Great! Make it for us! here is the tensile strength we are targeting" (notice how I didn't say anything about reducing elasticity, which is what gives spider silk it's unique properties)
