i have no idea if you are being funny or what...the army liked ds....it may be suitable for some things..but not a bullet proof vest..

I'm not trying to be funny. Jetow wondered if Kraig Labs could make a light weight solid spider silk plate with DS. You suggested that that would require Kraig Labs to get into the "dreaded goo business" and give credit to the "goo makers". I gave you an example of how Kraig Labs could make a composite using their DS fiber and resin, much like how they create fiberglass hulls for boats. No need to get into protein fermentation.

That was all.

kblb can customize their silk...so why not just ask for exactly what you believe you need?...which is what the army did..and what kblb is trying to provide..

I agree. The army wants a custom fiber. Did they say DS was too flexible to be used in a bulletproof vest? I haven't seen them say that.

what would be the reason for the army to try to force ds, as is, to meet their needs by dipping it in various elixers and weaving it into untold configurations just to get what kblb could give it with a custom fiber?...

DS is relatively old tech. Could Kim have told the army "here is our great fiber, Dragon Silk, but we are working on some special formulations that could make it even stronger, maybe stronger than kevlar."? So the army says "Great! Make it for us! here is the tensile strength we are targeting" (notice how I didn't say anything about reducing elasticity, which is what gives spider silk it's unique properties)
