though i rarely agree w brew- i actually do regarding what they are labelling "short" volume- basically all trades on the bid they say is short volume. every trade is a buy and a sell whether it takes place at the bid or the ask. and those stats are valid but misnamed by calling it short vol. if for the day there were more trades on the bid vs the ask, or vice versa, that is valid info but has nothing whatsoever to do with shorting. i do think MMs sometimes engage in naked shorting but not nearly to the degree message board mythology makes it out to be.it is all usually, mostly just retail sellers. jmo
