Yeah I am sure when talking about a city by itself and not indicating a state or another country then it is in reference to being local where they are from. Same like when you give a phone number with or without area code.

Most likely country of Colombia.

Calling British Columbia, Columbia makes no sense.

That's like calling the European Union, Union.

One would begin typing 'British' not 'Columbia' and it would not auto correct to remove the word British.

Auto correct might however change Colombia to Columbia as in Columbia University since our dictionaries most likely are founded in the US.

Well my dictionary has both. So I vote for personal typo.

I also vote for real French cappucinos and spinach and cheese brioche.
