Hi again, I read your post more carefully and you raised some interesting points. I still think that Orocobre will benefit from a new CEO and from the oversight from the new Toyota guy in their board, as well as from the expansions with pretty good financing terms. The possible deal of Toyota with ALB you mention does concern me a bit. Have you seen any actual news report on this or did you hear it from a reliable source? Even if true, I don’t think Toyota would leave Orocobre, but as you suggest it may perhaps not invest on it as much. It may be that Orocobre will have to get its act together, but I think the new management and the pressure from Toyota will help with this.
Since you brought up LAC, do you have a good source on what you mentioned about SQM? Even if true, part of me thinks that SQM’s recent deal with the Chilean government was not very good for the company in terms of fees, so they have a major interest in expanding to Argentina. Since they already have a deal and financing in place with LAC, is it not easier to continue with such partnership? SQM is probably not in a huge hurry for extra lithium today and can wait a couple of years for LAC’s plant, or will they face a shortage soon? The LAC Argentina project still seems like a slam dunk to me. The scenario you present does have the advantage of SQM working with Orocobre, which already produces and which would benefit but they would also need to work it out with Toyota. All of this may require a bit of a musical chairs game among all the players (SQM, OROCF, ALB Toyota and LAC), which may not be easy,.
Whether we agree on everything or not, I appreciate your opinion. I like to be open to different ideas since they help me reinforce my own ideas or shift them slightly as I learn more. This is what I try to do in Investorhub. Unfortunately, you are right that some forums do not tolerate a free flow of ideas, especially one for a company we just discussed. Oh well...
Good luck with your investments.
