I’ll try to give you the best explanation I have. In so far as Orocobre .....as stated earlier I think that Seville screwed up the $250,000,000 gift from Toyota early on....like bungling the initial engineering for the plant dating back to 2012. Toyota trusted his judgment in the early days because of his experience in the mining industry. He was given almost complete control of the engineering and construction decisions, and because of his propensity to delegate ‘to much’ of the responsibilty he let things get away from him. i.e. wrong engineering specs. for the altitude, his unwillingness to live on site for a couple of years during construction and turning over responsibilty to the wrong people, being more interested in telling the board what they wanted to hear rather than the fact that created unrealistic timelines, his obsession with his own enrichment and willingness to lie and create inside trading opportunities for his cronies around important announcements. I could go on..but I think you get the point. I believe that Toyota is regretting their partnership at this point....but have no alternative now. I dont see a lot of reason to own it at this point. Because Toyota has the size and depth to bite the bullet in so far as Orocobre’s profit goes....as long as they have the guaranteed pipeline for lithium which they do have with ORE. It’s going to take them a few years to get the Jujuy operation running properly. They have realized that spending more money on sophisticating the hydroxiide plant in Japan and concentrating on refining the lithium to the grade they need there is a more controllable and efficient way to operate. Their interest really doesn’t reside in ramping up Orocobre into this mega lithium producer when they can set up offtake agreements with Albemarle for example and just feed their refining plant in Japan. The lithium universe has changed quite a bit since they started this project back in 2010. They will continue to improve and upgrade production in Argentina, but not to the degree that people that own shares would like to see. It will be a slow grind. I made quite a bit of money averging into Orocobre for around $1.60 over a couple of years, and Galaxy Resources for close to .07. I took all of the profits and bought Albemarle for around $80.00 and rode it up to $144.00; unfortunately I didn’t sell until it dropped back to $120.00. All things being equal I was fortunate to get in early on these. I rebought Albemarle at $88.00-$90.00 a share recently and I see no complelling reason to own ORE, LAC, SQM, etc. at this point to be honest. I stopped posting on Investor’s Hub for the most part because of the many people that used the board for ‘pumping’ stocks, rather than exchanging information. And....I couldn’t stand some of the imbeciles that took control of certain boards and ran them like their own personal Gulag. I spend most of my time reading and researching....and when people didn’t like the message....they atttacked the messenger. If you want my humble opinion I have loaded up on Katanga (in spite of all the polictical issues) because Glencore has a $5 billion investment in their operations there and employ about 12,500 Congolese citizens at last count. With that kind of money at stake they will hire an army of mercenaries if they have to. Not that I am hoping for that kind of outcome....but they are not walking away from the planet’s largest cobalt reserve, and high quality copper while prices continue to rise on both commodities. While everyone is scrambling for litihium they are overlooking the other cathode that is equally important for the forseeable future.
As far as the LAC board goes....billyjet banned me from there a long time ago because he didn’t like my viewpoint. Like I could care...lol. Well that’s enough for one night. Good luck on your investments. Just be aware that SQM has no real need for LAC anymore now that they have gotten back into good favor with the Chilean government. Ciao......I didn’t go back and check all of my spelling and puncuation, but I think you will be able to at least understand what I’m trying to say......unlike :)
