Don't mean to sound argumentative, but, Li bought in during March of 2016 and probably was calling quite a few shots much sooner than that ... either way, he will have been effectively in charge for 3 years come April on 2109. Something has to be exceptionally out of whack if he cannot commercialize the product after 36 months at the helm.
That is presupposing he is as talented as many here have stipulated ..... I have no expertise in the industry so I can only read the facts as they seem to be even though I would't know one if it hit me straight in the face.
I don't know how else to gauge how long is too long otherwise but I'd love for one of our IHUB experts to suggest an alternative if one actually exists.
