#5456 RE: Ex Blockman #5452

Thanks for the update Blockman and I've been thinkin', many folks in Florida would be interested in installing one of those IHDR, ECV-1 power units in their homes if the price is right because the ECV-1 captures the energy from a liquid or gas flowing through a pipe, with a small turbine that turns a generator to make electricity. IHDR has said they're going to market this device to commercial customers.

I think there's a bigger mass market for this product, especially in Florida, where there's power failures from tropical storms as well as hurricanes and tornadoes, all the time. I'd have a generator myself by now except there are issues with the carbon monoxide fumes from a generator potentially killing you or your neighbors, if they're down wind. With the ECV-1, I could mount it on the wall in the garage, have a plumber run a water line to it and have an electrician tie it in to the electric panel. That way, in a power failure, It'd be just a matter of opening the water valve, flipping the power transfer switch and I'd have power without worrying about carbon monoxide gas poisoning. A refined version of this would operate automatically, with an automated power transfer switch combined with an electric solenoid valve to open or close the water line.

IHDR has their offices in Tampa, ask them if they've thought of this application. The peace of mind of not having to worry about carbon monoxide would be a plus and there wouldn't be an engine, that requires periodic maintenance, to deal with. If IHDR designed this with enough efficiency, it could be cost effective for a homeowner to generate electricity from their city water line.
