Michael West's incredible constellation of spinoffs is almost as mind-boggling as his futuristic science. Only one or two satellites and "investments" have sales presently. He sells pieces of the action with style - not by selling out to a controlling Intel or IBM. Otherwise it is much the same as partnering.
On the other hand, U.S. Geothermal that would have loved to follow in the footsteps of the now legendary American pioneer B. C. McCabe who pioneered large scale geothermal generation of power just sold out to an Israeli import - ORA. U.S. Geothermal's initial project fell victim to the machination's of Goldman-Sachs and never quite recovered. B.C. was stopped only by a hostile take-over of his first born. Made B.C. very wealthy but put a crimp in the science from which geothermal has never fully recovered.
The destruction of small innovative start-ups swallowed by monsters has not improved on the capitalist model written into The Constitution and never amended. Patents have lost much of their value to claim jumpers. Google and Microsoft are notorious while even Apple lost a suit to Microsoft that misappropriated Apple's operating system along with that of others in its Frankenstein Windows.
Even The Admiral talked a lot about use of trade secrets to protect intellectual property.
That is why it is huge to have people like Lebby and Leonberger leading the company but the current financing is and has been the pits.
