Same here, bought my salesman's car from my company for $500 (it had 250,000 hard miles on it). Put $600 into front suspension & steering, and drove it for another 5+ years. The only reason I got rid of it was; I broke a bolt while replacing the rear struts. I had been having one of those weeks and said 'I am done'. Still regret it to this day.....
I had a Taurus in the 1990's - I loved that car! But toward the end it had the most bizarre mechanical problem. The transmission would go where it would get stuck in low gear. The only way to fix it was to open the hood, remove a lead from the battery and put it back, and then it would reset and whatever was wrong with the gears would be fixed! Crazy stuff but it got tiring after awhile so I gave it away to my niece.
