#278979 RE: CC Writer #278978

CC Writer, you're welcome. I first read of the EMP threat in Helen Caldicott's book Missile Envy some
30 years ago and since it hasn't been front and center since didn't think it posed much of a real threat.

As for my comment re Gingrich i saw his - repeat again, as you did

"Though the administration’s “instinct is to take all this very seriously,” the slow pace of
political appointments has made addressing EMP nearly impossible, according to Gingrich."
http://foreignpolicy.com/2017/10/16/the-trump-administration-has-no-plan-for-dealing-with-a-north-korean-emp-attack/

as at least implying that Trump wasn't taking it as a ultra-important matter
either. You'd agree that Trump's words mean little, at least most of the time.

It does make sense that Trump would say he thought it was important (especially in an election campaign)
since it's scary-scary stuff, though there are much less expensive and risky ways to knock out power grids.

"How might someone do serious damage with one right now?
You might spend a ton of money and time generating an EMP near a power plant. But—for instance—placing some explosives on the
power lines coming out of that power plant would be a lot easier, a lot less complex, and a lot cheaper than building that EMP weapon."

Didn't mean to put words into you mouth, I assumed you agreed with Pry. Seems that was my bad.
