fuagf, you said: "How might someone do serious damage with one right now? You might spend a ton of money and time generating an EMP near a power plant. But—for instance—placing some explosives on the power lines coming out of that power plant would be a lot easier, a lot less complex, and a lot cheaper than building that EMP weapon."

You may want to watch the full interview or read up on EMP. Taking out one large power transformer (LPT) would not be a huge issue. We have a few spares and the world can currently produce approximately 200 transformers of this type per year. A strategically placed EMP, or a solar EMP, could take out 1000's of LPTs across North America. It currently takes up to two years to build an LPT with normal materials and labor supply. Of course if a large portion of the the country's electrical supply is knocked out, nothing will be normal. If I recall, Dr. Peter Vincent Pry indicated up to 90% mortality rate in the US due mainly to starvation, if a strategically placed EMP is successful.

Though you attempted to erroneously indicate we agreed, I do not agree with your original statement: CC Writer, Even Gingrich disagrees with you on that one.

I do agree with this:
