Another real possibility is that the institutions are themselves behind the short attack trying to drive out retail.

Honestly, I can see no other reason for short positions to increase at low levels. It is unlikely they will be able to drive the company out of business so that is the only reasonable motivation, IMO.

Hmmm...I’m sure certain institutions were behind the drive lower; however, at some point the buying oppty is so compelling that they would have been playing a game of Russian roulette. Hard to imagine any sustained sp below $2. Can’t imagine the game where this drop out of the Russell.
