There are several strains which can flower in just 44 days and upwards, even shorter times can be had with carbon dioxide supplementation.
CO2 supplementation can increase yields by up to 40-45% and reduce flowering times by up to 5-8 days.
It is quite possible to have a nursery room with 20-24 hours light and then flowering rooms either naturally lit with supplementation when required or artificially lit and crop every 40 days form the same area of grow space.
That's over 8 crops per year.
The light from the sun is very different from artificial light, it has a huge PAR rating and therefore can penetrate deep into the canopy from 94 million miles away , a 1000w HPS struggles to penetrate at 1m height for more than a few inches , this is why the technique know as lolly-popping where the bottom part of the plant is removed to encourage top growth as lower growth is stunted by lack of light penetration.
(SIGO use this technique, I have seen it in the pics on Instagram)
No lamp can come close to what the sun can do.
Take a look at some of these plants...The same results can be had in a greenhouse

The quality of the plant's buds as in potency is pretty much consistent thru-out the plant top to bottom, small bud or huge bud, so for extraction this would not be an issue.
As for root size, there is a direct correlation between root mass and plant size and health.
A small plant has small roots and therefore is small in stature and yield. Conversely a large plant has a large root mass and large yield, the yield of the large plant is not proportionate to the smaller one.
The bigger the plant in height then yield follows , the plant produces more budding sites and larger , more dense bubs when cared for in the correct manner.
Aesthetically the larger the buds the better when it comes to drying and a decent 3 month curing period.
Horticulture is only a good as it's weakest link.
The Sun is the best there is for lighting plants , fact.
Co2 supplementation is a very basic component of any cannabis or high value crop. If you do not use CO2 then you are missing out BIGGLY

Here's one of many examples of growing big and the benefits , its a concise , easy read.
8 llbs dry ,some 28.9 % THC , lab tested ,passed inspection for mold, mildew and pesticides
