#186131 RE: Eli's Gone #186114

Good news is not losing the game? Does Dellin Betances still have any trade value?

Dellin Betances gave up three runs and five hits in two-thirds of an inning Friday night and turned what should have been an easy victory into a sweat job.

Yet, standing in the middle of the Yankees’ clubhouse after an 8-6 win over the Tigers at Comerica Park, Betances wasn’t rattled. In fact, he was confident things are about to change for him.

“It’s tough right now because it’s the best I have felt in a while. Both pitches are good. The first guy got it good, but after that I could have thrown the resin bag up there and it would have gotten hit,’’ Betances said. “It’s one of those days. I have to stay positive because I haven’t felt like this in a while.’’

Jeimer Candelario greeted Betances with a homer to start the eighth and by the time Chad Green took over for Betances the Tigers had scored three runs and had two runners on with two outs. Green caught Dixon Machado looking for the third out.

“Look at the positives, Green picked me up and the team won,’’ Betances said.
