About 20 senators were travelling on committees across the country for committee hearings so the Conservatives decided to try a fast one and scheduled the standing vote. They weren’t serious about it because they leaked it to the media and therefore a lot of the other senators rushed back to vote for it.
It was about being dicks and inconveniencing people.
Because they leaked it to the media they went with the legislation could fail stories and the markets felt it.
