“Curiously awkward writing by WSJ on gas-fired power plants:

New plants are being built in the gas-producing states of Pennsylvania and Ohio, which are seeking ways to move the gas to market either by pipeline or as electrons by transmission line. [Emphasis added.] As though there were a way to move electrical power over transmission lines without electrons.”
Actually, it is quite common jargon in the industry. You can either deliver nat gas via a pipeline, or deliver nat gas via wire (convert the gas to electricity via a power plant). Coal by wire is another conversion, and was/is used to site a coal plant in a state with less regulated environmental conditions, and transfer that energy by wire to a more restrictive state.
