#12982 RE: Serenity3 #12979

Thanks for the link the the House hearing on fraud in addiction treatment facilities. Truly disgusting that some put profits before lives. Keeping addicts addicted because it's profitable. But that's the story of healthcare in America - fee for service. Glad the government payors and hopefully insurers are going towards fee for results... the way it should be.

Will the FDA get involved in regulating addiction treatment centers somehow by requiring all provide (1) counseling, (2) supportive care, and (3) MAT? Where are the addiction medicine guidelines on this?

Regarding insurance companies, can government require they pay for MAT without all the hoops? Certainly FDA is to blame for many of the tight restrictions imposed on probuphine (the ridiculous amount of trials required, delay of CRL, the severe restrictions on use, etc..., but a different standard for sublocade - hopefully because it is newer and not because of clout). Insurance companies are weasels that do everything in their power to not pay for things if they can get away with it.

I hope you are right that government or legal pressure will force them to do the right thing - and provide potentially livesaving MAT to addicts in need. Likewise for addiction treatment centers.

If the government really wanted to fix this thing, they would immediately legalize possession of small quantities of drugs, provide money for state governments to treat every addict with MAT and counseling if patients have no insurance coverage. They would also force insurance companies to pay for treatment - yes by enforcing the existing mental health parity laws. FDA would get their act together too. I'm glad FDA seems to be doing it's job - after they, insurance companies, and horrible partner Braeburn already screwed TTNP big time.

Hoping it's not too late for other partners to step up - maybe someone is waiting in the wings when TTNP gets probuphine back from Braeburn. Opiant needs to step up to the plate to partner with TTNP on a long-term naltrexone implant. Or maybe someone for one of the other non-addiction indications will come through. Let's hope our European partner fares MUCH better than Braeburn.

I recently made the bet that someone will recognize the potential of TTNP's drug implant technologies soon, by doubling my modest share count (selling a small amount of a winner to invest in this cheap company).
