So Tmac why do you think the company spent $100 million on this trial? Couldn't they have come to the same conclusion you've had on the back of a napkin?

I think the exact opposite. I think people on statins feel "well I'm covered now. Don't need to worry about my diet".

tmac20, what you postulate, if true, could reduce the trial event rate. However, it won't impact the RRR, which we hope will be at least 12%.

I'm not an expert at any of this stuff. But if R-IT comes in at 5-8% wouldn't that have already been recognized and the program stopped due to such a low projected outcome.

My understanding is that the program is continuing due to performance which continues to meet expectations.

Someone in the know please provide comments.

Right on TMAC - I guess 5% - perhaps improvements in subgroups ( ie diabetics high trigs low hdl - but even with that success market collapses as currently being marketed for all trigs 200- 5oo and isnt even profitable ) ... as a warning ... the cult does not take kindly to any criticism

There is a lot of room for improvement. Since the inception of statins, CVD is still the number one killer in the USA. Even after the flu shot and consuming Mediterranean Meals. Which we endlessly hear about from Mr. Kiwi.
