In essence, they paid for dem dare positions already, in udder words, Free and, well, Clear!!

That's how da-Big Boys dew it and eye kinda Like It :-)

if you are correct that the calls were opened EOD yest,
then the 272c were bought in ~0.17-0.20 range.
trading at 0.07-0.08 now, so down ~60%,
most of that being overnight theta drop.

be comparison the 270c i bought at open today
are holding up fairly well despite SPY's sideways theta-decay drift.
i bought at 0.22 & 0.18.
LOD 0.16, with current 018 bid.

given they expire tmrw,
the fact that the bid has plummeted suggests continued speculation of a SPY rally by tmrw by the general market.

time will tell.
as noted before, if SPY doesn't find some buoyancy soon,
i'm going to roll my feb14 calls into feb16 calls to hold overnight
and get some cheap feb14 puts to hedge and overnight drop tonight.
